Rich, delicately sweet. Honeysuckle, hazelnut, green grape, baker’s chocolate, cedar in aroma and cup. Gentle, round acidity; silky, giddily buoyant mouthfeel. The sweet, gently tart finish is resonant with green grape and honeysuckle in the short, softening to baker’s chocolate in the long, all supported by aromatic wood suggestions.
Sweetly rich, deeply pungent. Honey, tea rose, fir, black currant, thyme in aroma and cup. Quiet, crisp acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. All flavor notes carry into a nuanced, resonant, gently drying finish.
Delicate and sweet. Caramel, tangerine, lavender and sandalwood in aroma and cup. Crisply sweet acidity; buoyant, silky-smooth mouthfeel. Balanced and elegantly dry, flavor-saturated finish dominated by tangerine in the short and sandalwood in the long.
Subtly complex, deeply and resonantly sweet. Baker’s chocolate, star fruit, pear, oak, a hint of plum blossom in aroma and cup. Softly crisp, juicy acidity; silky mouthfeel. Chocolate and oak dominate in a sweet, layered finish.
Sweet, cidery, gently bright. Pear, almond, sweet cocoa, a hint of flowers in aroma and cup. Round, resonant, balanced acidity; lightly but distinctly syrupy mouthfeel. Cocoa, pear and almond notes soften but sustain in a clean, quiet finish.
Crisp yet lush. Bakers’ chocolate, orangy citrus, musk, a hint of grappa in aroma and cup. Rich, juicy acidity; syrupy mouthfeel. Chocolate and orange suggestions in particular carry into a gently drying finish.
Deep, low-toned, opulent. Minty dark chocolate, ripe pineapple, orange, hints of clove and lilac in aroma and cup. Rich, round, vibrant acidity; lightly syrupy, lively mouthfeel. Fruit-nuanced chocolate rings far into a long, resonant finish.
Delicate, soft, lively. Distinct honeysuckle-like flowers, apple, caramel, walnut, a hint of roasted cacao nib in aroma and cup. Gently crisp acidity; lightly plush mouthfeel. Sweet-toned, quietly flavor-saturated finish.
Rich, deep, brandy-toned. Brandy, rose-like flowers, dark chocolate, pineapple-like fruit in aroma and in immense, opulent cup. Roundly rich acidity; full, syrupy mouthfeel. Rather heavy finish, though the extravagance of the cup is worth it.
Evaluated as espresso. Ken (91) and his co-taster (91) recorded identical scores and very similar readings for this lively, balanced espresso: in aroma and flavor sweetly tart fruit (orange, lemon, kiwi) rounded by flowers for Ken and “sweet pea” for the co-taster; smooth, lightly syrupy mouthfeel; most impressively a very sweet finish with chocolate and cinnamon suggestions. Delicately chocolaty in three parts milk (“pure milk chocolate” according to the co-taster).
Intense, gently but sweetly tart. Lemony peach, almond, fresh-cut fir, brown sugar in aroma and cup. Delicate, lively acidity; leanish but silky mouthfeel. Long, almost sugary sweet short finish, drying in the long.
Sweet-toned and rich aroma with some floral notes. In the cup medium body, silky mouthfeel, low acidity, sweet, low-toned, rich, with chocolate notes and a hint of walnut. Rich short finish; the mildly bitterish walnut tones dominate in the long.
