Roast: Medium-Dark Review Date: May 2013
Origin: Not disclosed. Price: NT $900/16 ounces

Blind Assessment: Evaluated as espresso. In the straight shot a banana-like sweetness is balanced by bitterish orange zest and walnut with a rich dark chocolate hovering somewhere between. Very full, rather heavy mouthfeel; sweet, resonant though rather drying finish. Sustains complexity in three parts milk: cedar, raisin, banana, dark chocolate.

Notes: Café Est is a micro-roaster located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, owned by Ricky Liu who takes coffee quality and roasting very seriously, applying the same passion for them as he lavishes on his second favorite activity, surfing. Call +886-2-2945-1611 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Those who prefer a robust, richly bittersweet straight shot and an assertive presence in milk.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
