Roast: Medium Review Date: February 2013
Origin: Philippines. Price: $54.99/3.5 ounces

Blind Assessment: Great range of aromatic and flavor sensation. Bright, sweet-toned and floral, but with molasses, mushroom, moist wood and rich musk notes deepening and complicating the profile. Delicate, brisk acidity; smoothly silky mouthfeel. Drying but sweet, mushroom-toned finish.

Notes: A version of the famous Kopi Luwak, the world's most notorious coffee. The beans are harvested from the feces of a species of civet cat, in this case a species resident in the Philippines, that eats ripe coffee fruit. Faustino Coffee Company is an Ontario, California based importer and distributer of coffees from the company’s estates in the Philippines. Who Should Drink It: One of the best luwaked coffees we have sampled over the past few years, with genuinely unique aromatics. Only you can decide whether those unique aromatics are worth the high price.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
