Delicate, crisply tart. Blackcurrant, walnut, lemon zest, carob, violet in aroma and cup. Brisk, sweet-tart acidity; plush, satiny mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates to carob and blackcurrant in the crisp finish.
Deep, round, gently bright. Aprium, malt, lily-like flowers, baker’s chocolate, a hint of moist fallen leaves in aroma and cup. Sweet-toned, softly tart acidity; light, buoyant mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates in a long, sweet, very slightly drying finish.
Bright but balanced. Tart coffee fruit reads as a crisp-toned but lavish layering of cherry, orange and lemon suggestions with an anchoring hint of fresh-cut fir. Intense but sweet-toned acidity; lightly silky mouthfeel. Sweet, rich short finish; a very slight hint of astringency in the long.
Co-cupper Wendy De Jong (92) admired this coffee’s savory depth more than Ken (90) did. Wendy: “floral and herbal aroma with dark cocoa. Complex flavors of savory herbs, sweet tomatoes, lemongrass and sweet stewed fruits.” Ken wanted a bit more brightness and shimmer. Both appreciated an acidity that was “rich” for Ken and “well-structured” for Wendy. Both commended a “creamy and supple” (Wendy) mouthfeel. “Sophisticated and lovely coffee gracefully roasted” Wendy concluded.
Round if somewhat subdued fruit- and aromatic-wood-toned aroma with a hint of orange-toned chocolate. A smooth cup: silky mouthfeel, crisp acidity and continued soft notes of aromatic wood, citrus and nut. Flavors simplify in the quietly rich finish.
Quietly bright in aroma and cup: orange, black currant, blackberry, cedar, a hint of cocoaish dark chocolate. Balanced acidity, medium body. The dark chocolate grows more explicit in the rich finish.
