Evaluated as espresso. Richly sweet, fruit-toned. Dark chocolate, date, sassafras, molasses, fresh-cut cedar in aroma and small cup. Velvety mouthfeel; the crisp finish centers around dark chocolate and cedar notes. Dark chocolate and molasses amplify in milk while date and cedar recede.

Delicate, complex, multi-layered. Bergamot, dark chocolate, nougat, narcissus, cedar in aroma and cup. Richly sweet-savory structure with citrusy acidity; full, syrupy mouthfeel. The floral- and fruit-driven finish is supported by chocolate and aromatic wood notes.

Balanced, crisply sweet-tart. Lemongrass, cardamom, cocoa powder, rhododendron-like flowers, fresh-cut cedar in aroma and cup. The structure fuses sweet, tart and savory tendencies, enlivened by a quietly juicy acidity. Buoyant, satiny mouthfeel. The crisp finish is richly sweet, with notes of lemongrass and vanilla-like florals carrying into the long.
Deeply sweet, subtly complex. Almond, mulberry, baker’s chocolate, cedar, a hint of wisteria-like flowers in aroma and cup. Quietly and gently bright acidity; light but silky, buoyant mouthfeel. Chocolate and almond in particular carry into a resonant finish.
Sweet, delicately crisp. Dark chocolate, brown sugar, hints of plum and fresh-cut cedar in aroma and cup. Tartly juicy acidity; the mouthfeel is light, hinting at silkiness. Chocolate carries into a gently drying finish.
Round, sweet, gently pungent. Fresh-cut fir, chocolate, a hint of enlivening tart berry in aroma and cup. Round, rather muted acidity; light but syrupy mouthfeel. Sweet-toned, gently drying finish.
Rich aroma complicated by smoky semi-sweet chocolate and caramel. The cup is simple but satisfying: very sweet, deep, roundly roasty. The real glory of this coffee is an extraordinarily long, lushly vibrant, deeply chocolaty finish.
Ken (rating 81) reports: "Full-bodied, rather rich, but simple, with little nuance and a hint of bagginess." Kevin (rating 82): "Nice body, but the quakery appearance of the beans is reflected in a rather dull cup. Roasted at or past its limit given the modest inherent acidity of the green coffee."
In the nose, brightly sweet grapefruit tones animate a vaguely spicy roastiness. In the cup the aggressive roastiness turns bitter and slightly charred, lifted only by a shadow sweetness and a memory of citrus. Substantial body.
Low-toned, subdued but sweet and rich, with an almost chewy body and a tantalizing suggestion of flowers, lavender perhaps. As the cup cools a slight rubbery note emerges, reflecting either a roasting fault or a storage or processing problem with the green coffee.
Rich, sweet, with a gentle lift from the acidity, complicated by pronounced chocolate fruit tones (think chocolate-covered cherries). The body reads as bigger than it is owing to the general richness of the cup. Not much range or complexity, but a fundamentally pleasing cup.
A complete but rather simple profile; decent acidity balances the pungency of the moderately dark roast. Hints of vanilla intensify and the entire profile sweetens as the coffee cools.
A superbly balanced coffee, with a low-toned, slightly winy acidity, a touch of vanilla in the nose, and a solid, dark-roast bottom with little in the way of carbony distraction.
