Evaluated as espresso. Crisp aroma with an enveloping sweetness: dried apricot, caramel, nut. All carries into the small cup, complicated by penetrating suggestions of lemon, cocoa nib, fir. Lightly syrupy mouthfeel, rich finish. In two parts milk the cocoa rounds to chocolate nuanced by continued hints of fir and lemon.

Evaluated as espresso. High-toned, sweet aroma: caramel and hints of orange, lemon and aromatic wood. Evaluated as espresso. Distinct floral- and citrus-toned aroma, lightly syrup mouthfeel and crisp, concentrated fruit that combines suggestions of citrus, flowers, aromatic wood and a cocoaish chocolate. Clean, very rich finish; the cocoa rounds to a sweet lemony chocolate. The intense flavors simplify in two parts milk but retain character and balance.

Coava Coffee Roasters

Ethiopia Sidama ARDI

Price: $10.00 / 250 g. (8.8 oz.)

Sweet and richly high-toned aroma: lemon, flowers, fresh-cut cedar, honey. Lushly bright acidity, medium body, silky mouthfeel. In the cup the lavish acidity registers first, followed by a softer impression of night flowers, lemon, and a cedar note that rounds toward cocoa. Extraordinarily long, resonant finish, deeply saturated with flavor.

Trailhead Coffee Roasters

Bolivia Summit Roast

Review Date: Nov 2009

Subdued fruity aroma, with mild roasty notes, milk chocolate and toast. In the cup balanced acidity, soft mouthfeel, and round fruit flavors, hinting at black cherry that fade and sweeten toward chocolate. A slight tart astringency distracts from the otherwise pleasingly bittersweet finish.

Badbeard's Microroastery

India Kattehollay Estate Peaberry

Review Date: Oct 2009

Unusual profile. Attractive, complex aroma: sweetly balanced, delicate, tart coffee fruit, dusk flowers. In the cup, soft acidity; smooth mouthfeel, verging on syrupy; quite sweet with a salty, spicy edge; continued lush lilyish floral notes. The salty sweet character carries into a rich finish.

Deep, rich aroma: smoky cedar and nut notes, hints of stone fruit, dark chocolate. In the cup dullish acidity; full, syrupy mouthfeel; rich salty sweet character with distinct dark chocolate and astringent nut notes. Remains rich and nut-like in the finish. Not a typical coffee profile. Turns rather aggressively astringent as the cup cools.

Badbeard's Microroastery

This is My House! (coffee)

Badbeard's Microroastery

Naturally Nirvana

Review Date: Dec 2008

Wild aroma, combining a sweet ferment that reads as wood, blueberry and dry grass with a distinct musty/earthy note. Medium to full body, slightly leanish mouthfeel. An unusual combination of sweet and bitter nut flavors, with notes of wood and caramel. The woodiness continues into the long dry finish, with suggestions of baker's chocolate. Given the utterly atypical character of the cup, this coffee could rate anywhere from 50 to, well, 87.

Stumptown Coffee Roasters

Panama Esmeralda Especial

Review Date: Dec 2006
Price: NA

Spectacularly aromatic in both dry and infused aroma: candied lemon peel, bergamot, hints of jasmine. Medium bodied and sweet, with superb acidity and flavors that suggest both the mentholated citrus of a Yirgacheffe and the blueberry notes of a Harrar, but without a trace of ferment or earthiness. Perfumed perfection.
