Fruit-toned, vibrantly sweet. Dark chocolate, raspberry, agave syrup, oak wine barrel, freesia-like flowers in aroma and cup. Richly sweet-toned in structure, with lively acidity. Balanced, sweet-savory. Red currant, roasted cacao nib, clove, blood orange zest, frankincense in aroma and cup. Savory-sweet structure with lively acidity; syrupy mouthfeel. The resonant, spice-toned finish leads with intimations of clove and roasted cacao nib in the short, rounding to rich fruit tones with hints of frankincense in the long.
Cohesive, intricately bittersweet. Dried hibiscus, nutmeg, maple syrup, baker’s chocolate, peach in aroma and cup. Balanced, bittersweet structure; full, lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Although described on the package as an espresso, this blend is evaluated here for non-espresso brewing. Roundly pungent, richly chocolaty. A complex chocolate sensation dominates in aroma and cup, with a savory hint of nut. Gently brisk acidity; light but smooth mouthfeel. Sweet, richly drying finish.
Deep, resonant, very sweet-toned in aroma and cup. A slight hint of sweet ferment encourages a deep plum-like and banana-like fruit and dark chocolate complicated by a pungent hint of fir. Rich, low-toned acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Some chocolate carries into an agreeable but simple finish.

(As brewed in a Bunn My Café single-serve brewing device to produce a 6-ounce serving): Lots of promise in aroma and the first few sips, but falls off as the cup begins to cool. Gently bright aroma; winey acidity; full, lightly syrupy mouthfeel. The aromatics seem to vanish in cup and finish, however, leaving only a sweet-toned wood with an herby/salty edge.
Delicately plush coffee. Very sweet-toned in aroma and cup, with a distinct pear-like fruit and roasted nut that soften to dark chocolate toward the finish. Soft acidity, lightly syrupy mouthfeel. The finish is particularly impressive, saturated with a deep, resonant chocolate sweetness.
Evaluated as espresso. Delicately rich aroma, medium body but slightly leanish mouthfeel. Co-cupper Andy Newbom (88) found the flavor in the small cup a bit sweeter-toned ("fruit and chocolate") than Ken (89), who described a "crisp aromatic wood, walnut and licorice". But both felt the cup smoothed and softened in a pleasing, fruit-toned finish. In four parts milk displayed an attractive and rather distinctive dried fruit and chocolate character: "sweet chocolate, prunes and carob" in Andy’s words.
Intense woodsy aroma suggesting fresh-cut pine with a hint of chocolate. Balanced acidity and smooth mouthfeel. In the cup sweet, mildly fermented fruit tones read as a heavy dark chocolate with continued crisp aromatic wood complication. Both tendencies carry into a finish in which sweetness outlasts a mild astringency.
Sweet, delicate, floral-toned aroma with hints of lemon and a buttery chocolate. Reveals weight and power in the cup, with a rich acidity with continued floral, lemon and butter notes. Clean, rich finish.
