Coffee Review - Cafe Femenino Rwandan by Just Love Coffee
  • Just Love Coffee Roasters

    Murfreesboro, Tennessee
  • Cafe Femenino Rwandan

Roast: Medium-Dark Review Date: October 2012
Origin: Gakenke District, Rwanda. Price: $15.50/13 ounces

Blind Assessment: Delicately complex. Sweet cream and milk chocolate with balancing hints of grapefruity citrus and peppercorn. Round, rather muted acidity; lightly but distinctly syrupy mouthfeel. Sweet-toned, resonant, quietly flavor-saturated finish.

Notes: Five percent of sales of all Just Love coffees go to Waterstep, a non-profit dedicated to bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Additionally, 25 cents per bag of Cafe Femenino goes to Thistle Farms/Magdalene House, a women's crisis center. This coffee is also Fair Trade certified, meaning it was purchased from small-holding farmers at a "fair" or economically sustainable price. Café Femenino is an organization that supports women farmers and their families in coffee growing communities. Rwanda's impressive potential as fine coffee producer has come to fruition over the last several years owing to the industry of its growers, generous support from international aid agencies and the commitment of North American specialty coffee roasters. Just Love Coffee Roasters is a small-batch roaster located in Murfreesboro Tennessee; its mission is to develop the unique qualities inherent in each coffee bean and to be equally passionate about helping those in need.
