Blind Assessment: Richly and sweetly pungent. Rose-like floral notes, mulberry, fresh-cut cedar, musk in aroma and cup. Gently bright, balanced acidity; light but lively mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates but saturates a very sweet-toned finish.
Notes: Exclusively from trees of the heirloom Red Bourbon variety of Arabica. Rwanda's impressive potential as fine coffee producer has come to fruition over the past decade owing to the industry of its growers, generous support from international aid agencies, and the commitment of North American specialty coffee roasters. The Gashonga wet mill draw coffees from nearly 1,600 small-holding farmer cooperative members. North Star Micro Roasters roasts on a five kilogram machine and is “dedicated to sourcing, roasting and supplying the best coffees we can get our hands on.” Visit www.northstarroast.com for more information.
Who Should Drink It: Those who enjoy a sweetly pungent cup with just a hint of savory depth.
