Blind Assessment: Sweetly roast-toned, savory, deep. Brown sugar, lemon zest, lightly scorched fir, mace, faint gardenia in aroma and cup. Low perceptible acidity; lightly creamy mouthfeel. Lemon zest, lightly scorched aromatic wood, a hint of mace complicate the gently drying finish.
Notes: Produced entirely from the Bourbon variety of Arabica by 2015 Cup of Excellence winner Dukundekawa Musasa Cooperative. This coffee is Fair Trade certified, meaning it was purchased from small-holding farmers at a “fair” or economically sustainable price. Mystic Monk Coffee is a small-batch roaster associated with a Carmelite monastery located in the Rocky Mountains of northern Wyoming. The Bottom Line : A slightly darkish roast quiets acidity and deepens a zesty, sweet-savory Rwanda.
