Blind Assessment

Chocolaty, richly nut-toned. Dark chocolate, date, almond butter, fresh-cut cedar, tangerine in aroma and cup. Balanced, juicy acidity; crisp, lightly satiny mouthfeel. Resonantly sweet finish, chocolaty and deeply nutty.

Notes

Produced by Wicho Valdes of Finca Santa Isabel, entirely of the SL28 variety of Arabica, and processed by the traditional washed method (fruit skin and pulp removed before drying). El Gran Cafe is a coffee shop located in the heart of Antigua Guatemala, whose mission is to roast and serve organic-certified and award-winning coffees produced at its own Finca La Esperanza just outside of town. Featured in El Gran Cafe’s lineup are also coffees from friends and neighbors in the region, along with award-winning and exceptional coffees from other regions of Guatemala. Visit ElGran.cafe for more information.

Bottom Line

An inviting, well-rounded washed Guatemala SL28 driven by rich chocolate and creamy-sweet nut tones, complicated by bittersweet citrus and nice aromatic wood notes.
