Blind Assessment: Flat and woody with a cloying, disturbing sweetness and not much else in way of flavor or aroma. The sweetness could be taken as slightly composty or slightly chocolaty or both. Virtually no acidity; smooth but leanish mouthfeel. The composty sweetness is most intense and unpleasant in the cup, less so in the finish.
Notes: Purchased in pre-ground format at Costco in San Leandro, California for an equivalent of $3.66 per pound. Folgers is a 160-year old coffee brand founded in San Francisco, acquired in 1963 by Procter & Gamble, and sold in 2008 to the J.M. Smucker Company. Visit
Who Should Drink It: Very low price; very, very poor quality by any standard that we know of.
