Blind Assessment: Multi-layered, rich, intricately sweet. Lemon balm, apricot, cardamom, cocoa nib, freesia-like flowers in aroma and cup. Sweetly tart with vibrant, juicy acidity; rich, syrupy mouthfeel. The finish leads with notes of lemon and cardamom, rounding to cocoa nib in the long.
Notes: Produced by Rigoberto Herrera of Granja La Esperanza entirely of the rare Sudan Rume variety of Arabica, and processed by the traditional washed method (fruit skin and flesh are removed from the beans before they are dried). The Bottom Line: The rare and admired Sudan Rume variety of Arabica presented in classic washed-process format: deceptively simple, sweetly herbaceous, cocoa-toned, deep.
