Blind Assessment

Richly and vivaciously sweet-savory. Pipe tobacco, date, grapefruit zest, spearmint, rose-like flowers in aroma and cup. Sweetly tart and deeply savory, almost meaty in structure. Syrupy but crisply drying mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates around grapefruit, spearmint and rose in a savory-bottomed, lasting finish.

Notes

This coffee tied for the third-highest rating in a cupping of coffees from Sumatra for Coffee Review’s April 2019 tasting report. Unusual for Sumatra, it is a conventionally wet-processed coffee prepared without the characteristic Sumatra wet-hulled intervention. Paradise Roasters specializes in micro-lot Arabica and Robusta coffees from Asia and other emerging origins. The company prides itself on quality and freshness, craft-roasting coffees in small batches only after orders are placed. Visit www.paradiseroasters.com or call 763-433-0626 for more information.

Bottom Line

For lovers of depth and sweet-savory resonance — those who enjoy the roundly sweet/tart/savory character of a fine ripe tomato, for example.
