Roast: Medium Review Date: June 2003
Origin: South-central Kenya Price: NA

Blind Assessment: Intense but sweet, fruit-toned acidity; delicate but rich in presence and mouthfeel. Lemon and grapefruit notes in the aroma; lemon and floral tones in the cup. The finish is lightly astringent but rich.

Notes: Sold whole bean in sealed 12-ounce foil bag with one-way valve; $17.32/pound. Kenya is one of the world's great coffee origins. Allegro Coffee, a subsidiary of Whole Foods Market, offers the best lots of Kenya it buys at auction every year as its "Grand Cru" Kenya. Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
