Roast: Medium Review Date: March 2003
Origin: Southwestern Puerto Rico. Price: NA

Blind Assessment: Smoky and richly heavy in its aromatics, but rather musty and monotoned in the cup. The musty tones, as they often do in Sumatras, hint at positive associations like spice and a sort of rough chocolate, but ultimately are too hard and unresilient to sustain too positive a reading.

Notes: Yauco Selecto is one of two Puerto Rico coffees currently exported outside the island. Dallis Bros. is a family owned business that is both wholesale roaster and importer of fine specialty coffee, and has long occupied a leadership position in the specialty industry. Who Should Drink It: Those who enjoy the mustier, rougher style of Sumatra.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
