Organic Ethiopian Yirgacheffe by Kickapoo Coffee Review |
Roast: Medium-Light Review Date: December 2013
Origin: Yirgacheffe growing region, southern Ethiopia. Price: $15.75/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Explosively bright and juicy. Honey, tangerine, black currant, hints of flowers and spice, mace perhaps, in aroma and cup. Opulently sweet, grandly exhilarating acidity; lightly but distinctly syrupy mouthfeel. Gently dry, flavor-saturated finish.

Notes: This exceptional coffee was selected as the #15 coffee in the Coffee Review Top 30 Coffees of 2013. This coffee is certified organically grown and processed at the famous Idido cooperative. Yirgacheffe is a coffee region in southern Ethiopia that produces distinctively floral- and fruit-toned coffees from traditional varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. Yirgacheffe coffees like this one processed by the wet or washed method (fruit skin and pulp is removed before drying) typically express great aromatic complexity and intensity with a particular emphasis on citrus and floral notes. Kickapoo Coffee is a Wisconsin micro-roaster devoted to organic and fair-trade principles and coffees. Visit or call 608-637-2022 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: An aficionado’s essay in the pleasures of big, resonant, lavishly sweet acidity and simple but deeply expressed aroma and flavor.
