Ethiopia Sidama Deri Kochoha by CQ Coffee Review |
Roast: Medium Review Date: September 2013
Origin: Sidamo (also Sidama) growing region, southern Ethiopia. Price: $13.50/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Savory sweet, intriguing, intense. Raw honey, rich musk, night-blooming flowers, blood orange, roasted cacao nib and resiny aromatic wood in aroma and cup. Juicy, complicated acidity; full, syrupy mouthfeel. Aromatic wood and cacao nib carry into a gently drying finish.

Notes: From the Deri Kochoha mill in the Hagere Maryame District, a little south of the famous Yirgacheffe region, where coffees from local heirloom trees are subject to classically rigorous, traditional processing and drying procedures. CQ Coffee Roasters is a coffee-loving, quality-focused roasting company based in Bedford, New Hampshire. Visit or call 603-345-7707 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Those who enjoy complex, resonantly bittersweet beverages. A superbly structured coffee with intricate and surprising aroma/flavor notes, deeper-toned and more pungent than we typically associate with southern Ethiopia coffees.
