Roast: Medium-Light Review Date: September 2012
Origin: Santa Ana, El Salvador Price: $14.00/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Gently crisp, refreshingly balanced. Freshly cut aromatic wood, dark chocolate and a faint tart berry note in aroma and cup. Quiet, softly expressed acidity; lightly creamy mouthfeel. Aromatically simple but balanced, resonant finish.

Notes: This coffee comes exclusively from trees of the heirloom Red Bourbon variety of Arabica, and was processed using the honey method, which means that the outer skin is removed as it is in the wet process, but all or some of the sticky fruit residue is allowed to dry on the bean and later removed by machine along with the parchment skin. Water Avenue Coffee is a tiny roastery nestled next to the railway in the old Industrial Southeast quarter in Portland, Oregon. Who Should Drink It: A subtle coffee subtly light-roasted produces a crisply delicate, refreshing cup.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
