Roast: Medium Review Date: February 2012
Origin: Latin America. Price: $11.95/16 ounces

Blind Assessment: Sweet-toned, balanced but rather monotoned. Pineapple, orange, cedary dark chocolate in aroma and cup, dampened throughout by a woody flatness. Muted acidity; slightly lean mouthfeel. Clean, round but simple finish.

Notes: With this, one of two “Blonde” or medium-roasted blends, Starbucks breaks with its long commitment to dark-roasting. This blend, described as “Mellow & Soft” is apparently aimed at those who prefer a smoother, less pungently roasty cup than presented by any of Starbucks’ usual offerings. Visit www.starbucks.com or call 800-782-7282 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Medium-roast drinkers who find themselves out of coffee and close to a Starbucks.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
