Roast: Medium Review Date: August 2010
Origin: Santa Rosa Department, Guatemala. Price: $13.75/12 oz.

Blind Assessment: Pungent night flowers, lemon and a molasses-like dark chocolate dominate in aroma and cup. All simplifies slightly in the finish. Lightly syrupy mouthfeel, gentle, almost muted acidity.

Notes: This coffee was purchased from Finca Santa Ana, the same farm that produced the fourth-place prize-winning coffee in the 2010 Guatemala Cup of Excellence competition. Based in the San Diego area, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is a retailer and wholesaler that focuses on organic and socially responsible coffees. Who Should Drink It: Chocolate in the garden: a richly floral and vegetal version of one of our favorite sensations.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
