Coffee Review - Twisted Espresso by Johnson Brothers Coffee
Roast: Medium-Dark Review Date: June 2010
Origin: Not disclosed. Price: $11.95/12 oz.

Blind Assessment: Evaluated as espresso. Aromatically rich: molasses, nut and caramel with delicate notes of orange and apricot. In the small cup, smooth body and rounded flavors of sweet nut, dark chocolate and prune with a continued orangy hint. The nut character dominates in the finish, turning slightly astringent and walnut-like. Flavors deepen but maintain character in two parts milk: orange-toned milk chocolate dominates with continued complications of nut, caramel and prune-like fruit.

Notes: Combing three coffees, Twisted's name was inspired by the way coffee "twists" together as it the streams from the spouts of a portafilter. Johnson Brothers Coffee Roasters is a distinguished small-batch roasting company. Visit or call 608-256-5282 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Rich and round straight shot, but most impressive in milk, where flavors deepen and sweeten without losing character or complexity.
