Roast: Medium-Light Review Date: December 2009
Origin: Ahuachapan Department, El Salvador. Price: NA

Blind Assessment: An intense cup. Pungent herb and cedar mingle with a soft fruit in aroma and cup. Full body, smooth mouthfeel. The fruit sweetens toward chocolate in the cup, balancing the sharper herb and cedar notes. The chocolate persists to soften the long, dry finish.

Notes: This Bourbon variety coffee consists entirely of peaberries, a kind of bean that results when the coffee fruit develops only a single, oval bean rather than the usual pair of flat-sided beans. Peaberries produce a somewhat different (often better) cup than normal beans from the same crop, from which they may or may not be separated during grading. Cuvee Coffee is a small-batch, artisan roasting company located in Texas about twenty miles west of Austin. Visit www.cuveecoffee.com or call 866-688-6608 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Intense, pungent character to complement sweet desserts or morning pastries.
