Blind Assessment
Very sweet; quietly layered complexity. Dried jasmine, alcohol-toned raspberry, roasted cacao nib, scorched oak, grapefruit zest in aroma and cup. Light-footed, delicate acidity; light, silky mouthfeel. Floral and raspberry notes carry into a rather dry, roast-dominated finish.
Notes
A wet-processed or washed coffee from the celebrated southern Ethiopia growing region of Yirgacheffe that after shipping was aged for six months in seasoned American oak wine barrels. This coffee earned the fourth-highest rating in a cupping of aged, casked and specially cured coffees for Coffee Review‘s May 2017 tasting report. San Francisco Bay is one of five coffee brands produced by the family-owned Rogers Family Company. Visit www.sfbaycoffee.com or call 800-829-1300 for more information.
Bottom Line
This complex expression of delicate but powerfully aromatic green coffee, a hint of wine-toned alcohol and distinct roast notes should please those who like a roasty but nuanced and original cup.
