Blind Assessment

: Sweetly earth-toned, floral. Vanilla orchid, scorched oak, pipe tobacco, unsweetened cocoa, cashew in aroma and cup. Roasty-sweet with balanced acidity; light, rather fluffy mouthfeel. Earthy, pungent finish with notes of scorched oak and sweet pipe tobacco.

Notes

Produced at the Simalem Estate in the Karo Regency of North Sumatra from nanolots originating around Lake Toba and processed by the traditional Sumatra washed and wet-hulled method. Vermont Artisan Coffee & Tea provides craft-roasted coffees and quality teas to retail establishments, food service markets, and retail customers throughout New England and beyond. For more information, visit www.vtartisan.com.

Bottom Line

For fans of overtly earthy coffees, this Sumatra, with its sweet pipe tobacco and floral vanilla tones, fits the bill.
