Blind Assessment: Evaluated as espresso. Deeply and richly sweet-tart, spice-toned. Dark chocolate, blood orange zest, licorice root, dried mango, caraway seed in aroma and small cup. Full, creamy mouthfeel; the finish moves from crisp, sweet cocoa tones in the short to caraway and licorice root in the long. In cappuccino-scaled milk, floral, fruit and savory spice tones richly converge.
Notes: A blend of Arabica coffees from Ethiopia and Colombia, all processed by the wet-processed or “washed” method, meaning the fruit skin and pulp were removed from the beans immediately after harvesting and before drying. Espresso Republic, founded in 2010, specializes in sourcing quality coffees and roasting them in small batches for both retail and wholesale customers. The Bottom Line: A deeply sweet, richly pungent espresso blend, compelling in its confident spice tones (caraway, licorice root) and balanced sweet-savory-tart structure.
