Blind Assessment: Crisply sweet, bright and lively. Baking chocolate, orange zest, golden raisin, gardenia, molasses in aroma and cup. Bittersweet structure with brisk acidity; satiny-smooth mouthfeel. The finish consolidates around molasses and orange zest in the short, with gardenia resurfacing in the long.
Notes: A blend of wash-processed coffees (fruit skin and pulp are removed before drying) from Guatemala and Ethiopia. Oak & Bond is a specialty retail and wholesale coffee roaster based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The company’s name combines “oak,” a reference to its first coffee, a barrel-aged release, and “bond,” referring to the founders’ happy marriage. For more information, visit www.oakandbondcoffee.com.
The Bottom Line: A balanced, friendly blend, deftly roasted to bring out chocolate notes, enlivened by a crisp, gentle citrus.
