Blind Assessment: (As brewed in a Senseo single-serve brewing device to produce a 4+-ounce serving): Good sweetness, but otherwise muted acidity, lean mouthfeel, woody flavor with a soapy/salty edge, empty finish. Probably produced from a mildly defective green coffee, with the mildly medicinal character of the coffee intensified by the tendency of pod brewing generally and our sample Senseo machine in particular to mute aromatics.
Notes: Douwe Egberts, the venerable Dutch firm become a world player and now a part of food giant Sara Lee, produces a variety of coffee blends. The Senseo-Douwe Egberts Colombian is one of ten non-flavored coffees offered in paper pods by Douwe Egberts under the Senseo brand name. These pods can be used either in the inexpensive Senseo pod machine or the Bunn My Café. Visit
Who Should Drink It : Avoid this one and try one of the other Senseo pods.
