Blind Assessment: Deeply and richly roast-toned, resonant. Dark chocolate, raisin, cedar, hints of lavender-like flowers and orangy citrus in aroma and cup. Roast-muted acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Chocolate and the lavender hint carry into a sweet though richly and roundly drying finish.
Notes: Reindeer Blend is a popular annual holiday offering of Caribou Coffee. This year it will be available November 6th through the holidays as long as supplies last. As always, it is Rainforest Alliance certified, meaning all of the coffees composing it were produced following sustainable ecological and socio-economic criteria developed by the Sustainable Agricultural Network, a coalition of independent, environment-focused non-governmental organizations. Caribou Coffee is a large (second largest in the U.S. after Starbucks) retail roasting chain based in the upper Middle West whose rather irreverent motto “Life is short. Stay awake for it” belies a serious approach to coffee. Visit www.cariboucoffee.com or call 888-227-4268 for more information
Who Should Drink It: A roundly sweet, cleanly expressed dark roast nicely develops chocolate and raisiny fruit notes plus some bonus nuance for the holidays.
