Blind Assessment: Deep, sweet aroma with roasty hints of grapefruit and night flowers. Smooth, full body, soft mouthfeel with a slight musty note that reads pleasantly as earth, nut and aromatic wood, complicated by hints of chocolate and cherryish fruit. Long, dry, earth- and dark-chocolate-toned finish.
Notes: Certified organically grown. Unlike most Java coffees that are produced on large government-operated estates, Taman Dadar (meaning flower garden) is produced by small-holder farmers in Eastern Java. Traditional Indonesian small-holder fruit removal and drying methods were used during processing, methods that promote attributes more typically associated with Sumatra coffees: earth, low-acid fruit, dense mouthfeel. Erythrina, Albizia and Leucaena trees provide shade for this coffee and are a source of livestock feed. The Supreme Bean is a Los Angeles-area wholesale roaster specializing in high-end roasted-to-order espresso blends and single origins. Visit
Who Should Drink It: Those who enjoy darker roasted traditional Sumatras and Sulawesis.
