Blind Assessment
Sweet, plain, refreshing. Honey, or perhaps agave syrup, fresh-cut birch wood, plumeria, a hint of tangerine-like citrus in aroma and cup. Sweet-toned, delicate acidity; satiny mouthfeel. Flavor simplifies in a short finish, though the flower and wood notes persist.
Notes
This sample consists entirely of peaberries, a kind of bean that results when the coffee fruit develops only a single, oval bean rather than the usual pair of flat-sided beans. Peaberries produce a somewhat different (often better) cup than normal beans from the same crop, from which they may or may not be separated during grading. The roasted coffee is sold in a very attractive fiberboard gift package with a genuine wax seal. Man Lao River Project is a non-profit organization started by the Yunnan government for the purpose of alleviating poverty and protecting the environment. Man Lao is a coffee producer as well as roaster and distributor. Visit www.manlaorivercoffeeco.com or call 866-586-5912 for more information.
