Blind Assessment

Delicate, crisp, sweet. Honeysuckle, almond, white peach, fresh-cut elm in aroma and cup. Gentle but lively acidity. Light but very silky mouthfeel. Some flavor carries into a very sweet though slightly bitter-edged finish.

Notes

Produced entirely from trees of the heirloom Bourbon variety of Arabica. This coffee comes from the Multi-Sector-Investment group (MIG), a cooperative created by the Rwandan government in 2004 to aid in development of coffee, honey and tea. Rwanda’s impressive potential as fine coffee producer has come to fruition over the past decade owing to the industry of its growers, generous support from international aid agencies, and the commitment of North American specialty coffee roasters. This coffee tied for fourth-place honors in the East Africa category at the 2014 HarVee awards for retail-roasted renditions of green coffees imported to North America by Sustainable Harvest Specialty Coffee Importers. Nossa Familia donates one dollar per pound of coffee purchased to the consumer’s choice of seven different charitable organizations. Nossa Familia (“our family” in Portuguese) is an Oregon-based roaster that imports and roasts coffee from the family’s farms in Brazil, as well as roasting and offering coffees like this one from other origins. Visit www.nossacoffee.com or call 503-719-6605 for more information.

Who Should Drink It

Those who enjoy crisply sweet, delicate coffees alive with floral, nut and fresh-cut aromatic wood notes.
