Blind Assessment

Savory-sweet, rich. Dark chocolate, mesquite, dried date, a hint of lily-like flowers in aroma and cup. Crisp, low-toned acidity. Light but silky mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates in a simple but rich finish.

Notes

Produced by Los Guardianes, one of the teams of producers working within the Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera San Ignacio de Loyola (CASIL), from trees of the respected Caturra and heirloom Bourbon varieties of Arabica. This cooperative was founded in 1966 and is one of the pioneers of coffee quality in Peru. This coffee was awarded second-place honors for the South America category at the 2014 HarVee awards for retail-roasted renditions of green coffees imported to North America by Sustainable Harvest Specialty Coffee Importers. Portland Roasting emphasizes sustainable environmental and social practices throughout its business, including its “Farm Friendly Direct” sourcing program involving partnership projects with coffee producers in several origin countries. Visit www.portlandroasting.com or call 800-949-3898 for more information.

Who Should Drink It

A tactful dark-end-of-medium roast develops the savory-sweet richness of this Peru with its chocolate, pungent-sweet date-like fruit and whiff of musky lily.
