Blind Assessment
Balanced, sweetly spice-toned. Cocoa nib, nutmeg, apricot, pistachio, satsuma mandarin in aroma and cup. Juicy, malic (apple-like) acidity; very syrupy mouthfeel. FInish consolidates to notes of cocoa nib and sweet citrus.
Notes
Produced entirely of the Typica variety of Arabica and processed by the washed method (fruit skin and flesh removed from the beans before drying). Consists entirely of peaberries, a kind of coffee bean that results when the coffee fruit develops only a single oval bean rather than the usual pair of flat-sided beans. Big Island Coffee Roasters is an award-winning coffee roaster operated with hands-on passion by Kelleigh Stewart and Brandon von Damitz. Visit www.bigislandcoffeeroasters.com for more information.
Bottom Line
A compelling Kona peaberry with a cocoa throughline and warming spices in the aroma and cup — especially juicy acidity for such a deep-toned coffee.
