Blind Assessment

Sweetly pungent, balanced but deep. Dark chocolate, plum-like fruit, hints of lemony citrus and savory baking spice in aroma and cup. Plush, delicately rich acidity; silky, lively mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates but persists in a roundly resonant finish.

Notes

Despite grower discontent and urban encroachment on prime coffee lands, Kenya continues to produce some of the world's most elegant and distinctive coffees. Tegu is a cooperatively owned and operated wet mill or “washing station” particularly admired for its meticulous fruit harvesting and sorting. Mt. Whitney Coffee Roasters sources, imports and roasts top coffees from around the globe; it is a 501-C3 non-profit that donates all profit after expenses to fund schools and food and well-drilling programs in Africa. Visit www.mtwhitneycoffee.com or call 800-873-1763 for more information.

Who Should Drink It

Those who value both balance and intensity in a quietly distinctive Kenya.
