Delicate, savory, floral. Magnolia-like flowers, lime zest, blackcurrant, baker’s chocolate, roasted walnut in aroma and cup. Sweet, round acidity; satiny-smooth mouthfeel. The subtle, gently drying finish is driven by blackcurrant enveloped by baker’s chocolate in the short; sweeter floral tones return in the long.
Despite challenges ranging from unclear government coffee policy and urban encroachment on prime coffee lands to chronically unstable weather, the famed Kenya coffee auction system and its participating cooperatives continue to produce some of the world’s most elegant and distinctive coffee. This coffee was produced by small-holding farmers of the Othaya Farming Cooperative Society. A delicately expressive version of the Kenya paradox, savory yet sweetly floral, gently zesty.
