Blind Assessment: Rich, deeply and sweetly expressed acidity dominates, nuanced by suggestions of grapefruit, tart pie cherry, fresh-cut fir and perhaps a rounding hint of table grape. Syrupy mouthfeel. Grapefruity citrus in particular carries into a sweet finish.
Notes: Produced mainly from trees of the admired, Bourbon-derived SL28 and SL34 varieties. Grown by the Gikanda Cooperative and processed at the distinguished, award-winning Gichatha-Ini Factory or wet mill. Heart Coffee Roasters is a young, one-location micro-roasting company “aiming to bring the community the best possible coffee experience.” Visit
Who Should Drink It: An acidity-lover’s coffee for sure, its grandly expressed brightness intensified by an unusually light roast.
