Blind Assessment: The aroma is sweet-toned and intense: cedar, semi-sweet chocolate, raisins. In the cup, dry, spicy berry, grapefruit, Bordeaux-like wine notes. The flavor notes persist in the slightly but pleasantly astringent finish.
Notes: Despite national coffee leadership marred by confusion and accusations of corruption, Kenya cooperatives continue to produce some of the world's most elegant and distinctive coffees. Intelligentsia is a leading Chicago-area roaster with a Keith Haring-style logo, excellent coffee, and a commitment to quality epitomized by the practice of printing roast dates on coffee packaging. Who Should Drink It: Lovers of gently austere, spicily dry red table wines.
