Blind Assessment

Sweet, clean, nut-toned. Cocoa-leaning nut, fresh-cut fir, raisin, fig in aroma and cup. Delicately bittersweet in structure; lightly syrupy in mouthfeel. Sweetness and flavor give way to a quiet but persistent bitterness in the long finish.

Notes

Kaapi Royale is a “super grade” of Robusta produced in India. It is wet-processed using traditional methods and consists of all large beans (screen 17) with no physical imperfections. This impressively clean preparation is reviewed here is an extreme light roast. Z Street roasts to order, so consumers who order this rare coffee online might consider specifying a somewhat darker roast, medium or medium-dark.  Z Street is a chatty, innovative specialty roaster located on, yes, Z Street in Auburn, Washington. Visit www.zstreetcoffee.com for more information.

Bottom Line

An unusual opportunity to taste a very pure Robusta at a very light roast.
