Blind Assessment: Balanced, richly sweet, tart and savory. Fine musk, dried hibiscus flowers, perique (fermented) pipe tobacco, candy cap mushroom, apricot in aroma and cup. Sweet-tart-savory structure with punchy acidity; lightly creamy, viscous mouthfeel. The rich-toned finish centers around apricot and umami-redolent notes akin to candy cap mushroom.
Notes: This coffee tied for the third-highest rating in a tasting of holiday coffees for Coffee Review‘s December 2018 tasting report. It is organic and certified fair trade, the latter meaning it was purchased from farmers at a “fair” or economically sustainable price. A blend comprised of four coffees: a natural-processed Ethiopia WORKA, a washed Ethiopia Banko, a washed Rwanda Coopac, and a washed Colombia Tolima. The Bottom Line : 2018's highest-rated holiday blend, a dynamic, spirited, original coffee with sweet, tart and savory tendencies harmoniously balanced. Organic- and fair-trade-certified; packaged in a gift bag with original art on the label.
