Blind Assessment
Quietly complex, deep. Caramel, fresh-cut cedar, peach, hints of flowers and roasted cacao nib in aroma and cup. Gently brisk acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Aromatic wood notes saturate a very sweet, easy finish.
Notes
Kona Kimo is a Canada-based roaster that specializes in coffees from Hawaii and other Pacific islands. This is one of three Kona Kimo offerings of unusual coffees produced by Maui Grown Coffee in the Ka’anapali district of the island of Maui. For us this “natural” or dried-in-the-fruit process Yellow Caturra was clearly the best of the three Kona Kimo Maui-grown selections. Who Should Drink It
A note to aficionados: This dried-in-the-fruit or “natural” coffee resembles the crisp, cedary dried-in-the-fruit coffees of Brazil more than the sweetly fruity dried-in-the-fruit coffees of Ethiopia and Central America. A quiet, resonant, engaging cup from an unusual origin.
