Counter Culture Coffee
Guatemala Antigua – Finca La Tacita
|Roaster Location:||Durham, North Carolina|
|Coffee Origin:||Antigua growing region, south-central Guatemala|
|Review Date:||November 2005|
Blind Assessment: A voluptuously sweet coffee, with roundly integrated acidity, great balance and elegance, and a resonant, cherry-toned fruit that carries through the profile from the intense aroma to the rich, finely clean finish. Complicating notes of fresh cedar, flowers and black currant in both aroma and cup. The fruit turns slightly chocolate toward the finish.
Notes: The valley surrounding the old colonial capital Guatemala Antigua produces the most famous Guatemala coffees. La Tacita, a farm whose fields are on an upper slope of the valley, consistently turns out one of the best of these coffees. Counter Culture Coffee is a small-batch wholesale specialty roaster with a particularly informative and lively website and youthful, enthusiastic leadership. Visit
