Blind Assessment: Crisply sweet, richly chocolaty. Date, grapefruit zest, baking chocolate, pink peppercorn, hazelnut in aroma and cup. Bittersweet structure with brisk acidity; full, velvety mouthfeel. The quietly flavor-saturated finish centers around baking chocolate and grapefruit.
Notes: A blend of three coffees, two from Ethiopia (a Dimtu washed-process and a Mulish Washing Station natural) and one from Guatemala (washed). This coffee tied for the third-highest rating in a tasting of holiday blends for Coffee Review‘s December 2019 tasting report. The Bottom Line : An engaging, delicately spice-inflected blend pleasingly complicated by chocolate and citrus zest.
