Blind Assessment: Immense and lavish. Blueberry, guava, dark chocolate, a hint of cognac, musky, carnal flowers in aroma and cup. Richly pungent acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Guava and chocolate in particular carry into a mildly drying but deeply flavor-saturated finish.
Notes: A spectacularly fruit-toned but unusually refined example of a dry-processed or "natural" coffee, meaning the beans were dried inside the fruit rather than after the fruit has been removed, as is the case with wet-processed or "washed" coffees. Caffe Luxxe is an Italian-inflected artisan roaster and retailer that emphasizes both its coffee knowledge and precision and its straightforward lack of pretension. Who Should Drink It : Straightforward structure is lifted by extraordinary aromatic depth and complexity from nose to finish.
