Blind Assessment: Complex, richly sweet. Nectarine, lime zest, cocoa nib, nougat, lilac in aroma and cup. Sweet-tart structure with juicy, balanced acidity; delicate, silky mouthfeel. The finish consolidates to notes of cocoa nib and lime zest.
Notes: Yirgacheffe coffees like this one are largely produced from traditional Ethiopian landrace varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. A wet-processed or “washed” version (fruit skin and pulp are removed before drying). Coffee Please is an artisanal roastery and cafe in Taipei’s Beitou District, famous for its proximity to the Yangming Mountain hot springs. Visit www.facebook.com/CoffeepleaseTW for more information.
The Bottom Line: A pretty fruit-forward washed Yirgacheffe cup with leading notes of stone fruit and citrus and ballast from delicate suggestions of cocoa nib.
