Blind Assessment: Delicately sweet-tart, rich-toned. Dried apricot, dark chocolate, hazelnut butter, gardenia, marjoram in aroma and cup. Sweet structure with tart, juicy acidity; full, satiny-smooth mouthfeel. The quiet finish centers around dried apricot and hazelnut.
Notes: Southern Ethiopia coffees like this one are largely produced from distinctive indigenous Ethiopia landrace varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. Processed by the honey method. Coffee Please is an artisanal roastery and cafe in Taipei’s Beitou District, famous for proximity to the Yangming Mountain hot springs. Visit www.facebook.com/CoffeepleaseTW for more information.
The Bottom Line: A gently fruit-toned honey-processed Ethiopia cup redolent with stone fruit, deep chocolate, and a hint of sweet garden herbs.
