Blind Assessment: Sweetly fruit-driven, richly aromatic. Lychee, hop flowers, cocoa nib, thyme, agave syrup in aroma and cup. Sweet-savory structure with bittersweet acidity; full, syrupy-smooth mouthfeel. The finish centers around notes of lychee and hop flowers with cocoa undertones.
Notes: Guji is a coffee-growing region nestled next to Ethiopia's better-known Yirgacheffe and Sidamo regions. Guji coffees are largely produced from distinctive landrace varieties of Arabica long grown there. Processed by the washed method (fruit skin and pulp are removed before drying). Coffee Please is an artisanal roastery and cafe in Taipei’s Beitou District, famous for its proximity to the Yangming Mountain hot springs. Visit www.facebook.com/CoffeepleaseTW for more information.
The Bottom Line: A multi-layered, savory-leaning anaerobically processed Guji cup with deep fruit and bittersweet floral notes.
