Blind Assessment: Complex, nuanced, multi-layered. Red currant, cinnamon, lavender, marjoram, wild honey in aroma and cup. Sweetly tart structure with juicy, high-toned acidity; very syrupy mouthfeel. Resonant finish; fruit and floral notes carry forward and cocoa emerges.
Notes: This coffee tied for the highest rating in a cupping of coffees from Kenya for Coffee Review’s October 2020 report. Produced from trees of the admired SL-28 and SL-34 varieties of Arabica by smallholding farmers and processed at the Ritho FCS Handege Factory (wet mill). DoDo Kaffa is a nano-roaster of specialty coffee based in Taipei City, Taiwan since 2009. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/dodokaffa/.
The Bottom Line: A balanced but exciting Kenya cup: rich, floral-toned, sweetly herb-toned and resounding.
