|Nejapa, San Salvador Department, El Salvador.
Evaluated as espresso. Complex but balanced. In the small cup fruit suggestions range from zesty tangerine to rounder plum and banana, with floral top notes and a pungent fresh-cut cedar. Lightly syrupy mouthfeel; fruit and cedar resolve toward chocolate in a long, clean finish. Two parts milk further develop the chocolate tendency with continued plum and citrus complication.
This lot is comprised entirely of the Pacamara variety of Arabica, a cross between the giant-beaned Maragogipe and Pacas, a selection of the heirloom Bourbon. A blend of different screen sizes from the same trees, with each screen size roasted separately then blended to formula. Water Avenue Coffee is a tiny roastery nestled next to the railway in the old Industrial Southeast quarter in Portland, Oregon.
