Blind Assessment: Roundly balanced and deep. Flowers, orangy fruit and molasses in the aroma. In the cup soft, integrated acidity, syrupy mouthfeel, with the continuing orange-toned fruit and molasses adding a distinct chocolate complication. The chocolate and molasses carry into a richly sweet finish haunted, as the cup cools, by a faint wisp of flavor-flattening wood.
Notes: This coffee was decaffeinated using a water-only method that does not involve use of a solvent. Cafe Valverde is the U.S.-based roasting partner of Invalsa Coffee, a Bolivian export/import company focused on identifying, supporting and exporting the best coffees from Bolivian small-holding farmers. Who Should Drink It: Balanced, quietly complete (almost) decaffeinated coffee.
